Privacy & data
Short version: I store as little as I can, for as short as I can, and I never sell or share any of it.
The check
When you check a username I store the username, the result and the time. That is what lets everyone see the stored result for 20 hours instead of hammering Reddit. I also store a keyed hash of your IP address for one to two days, purely to limit how many checks one visitor can start per hour. The hash cannot be turned back into an address.
The monitor
If you set up a watch I store your email address, the username, the time of each email and the status it reported. Unconfirmed requests are deleted after two hours. Finished, expired and unsubscribed watches are deleted 30 days after they end. Emails are sent from a mailbox I control; nothing is handed to a newsletter service.
What I do not do
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels in emails, no advertising, no sharing of data with anyone. The website sets no cookies at all, which is also why there is no cookie banner. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; if that bothers you, your browser can block them and the site still works.
To check a profile I ask Reddit's official API the same two questions a logged-out visitor could ask: is this profile visible, and is this name taken. Reddit sees my server's address and the username, nothing about you. This site is not affiliated with Reddit, Inc.
